Lords Prayer (Our Father)
Our Father
Who art in heaven
Hallowed be thy name
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done
On earth as it is heaven.
Give us this day
Our daily bread,
And forgive us our trespasses
As we forgive those
Who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil.

Comments:
This is the central Christian prayer, given to us from the lips of the Lord himself as recorded in Matthew 6:9-13 and Luke 11:2-4. The Catholic Catechism suggests it is “…truly the summary of the whole gospel.” (No. 2761) Christians of all denominations recite this prayer in slightly different versions.
Roman Catholics use both names for this prayer while our Protestant brethren name it the “Lord’s Prayer.”
Denominational differences also occur in the use of the Doxology,
“For thine is the kingdom,
The power and the glory,
Now and forever.”
Protestants generally include it while Catholics do not. It was not in Luke and most scholars do not believe it was part of the original text of Matthew. Most new translations omit it.
