A Corona Virus Timeout
Is there a Deep Spiritual Meaning to the Corona Virus Pandemic and the Timeout it’s forced upon us? Maybe, maybe not.
Christian leaders have urged prayer, patience, repentance, and care for the less fortunate. Some see the Lord’s hand in the pandemic.
Let’s assume it is the Lord’s doing. If the Lord is not blessing us, He’s teaching us. And this is a teaching moment. God is sending us a message, loud and clear. He’s not speaking with a “still small voice” but a megaphone. He’s telling us – me, you, all of us – that we need a Timeout:
- a timeout from work and the pursuit of money;
- a timeout from errands, shopping, sports, gyms, restaurants and vacations;
- a timeout from this material world and the glamour of evil;
- a timeout from our sins, particularly the seven deadly ones;
- a timeout from indifference to the Creator of the Universe, the one true God, in whom “…we live and move and have our being.”
He’s lovingly granted us a Timein:
- a timein for personal reflection, prayer, and repentance;
- a timein for appreciating the blessings He has bestowed on us;
- a timein for strengthening our relationships with family and friends;
- a timein for reaching out to the less fortunate;
- a timein for returning to Him on bended knee with a humble and contrite heart.
I have suffered my share of stir-craziness, but I’m trying to take advantage of this timein.
I realize my sins have sent me to the Naughty Corner. Examine your own heart and see if this applies to you too.
Yes, our sins have delivered us to timeout. Our landscape is crammed with naughty Americans in their naughty corners.
Let us return to the Lord with our whole heart!
