I’m mellow
with wine
in the Lord.
Pagan’s say,
“Forget the Lord”
while fellow believers
sometimes advise,
“Forget the Wine.”
This I know:
drink wine in moderation.
drink the Lord to excess.
For me wine and the Lord
go together
like love and marriage.
After all, in his first miracle
at Cana,
he changed the water into wine
at a wedding.
Later he said,,
“I am the vine
and you are the branches.”
And in the Last Supper
he declared the wine
to be his blood.
Maybe I misunderstand,
maybe I get Him perfectly.
All I know
is
I’m mellow
with wine
in the Lord.
