I’m sitting in the sun,
Florida sky so blue
Clouds perfectly placed
And a gulf breeze
That lightly shakes
The palm tree fronds.
Properly pool attired
Paperback in hand,
Drink by my side,
I’m grooving in the warm bright sun.
Stretched out in the lounge chair
I face Sarasota Bay,
Pelicans circle and dive,
And a cormorant lounges leisurely
On a dock post,
Wings drying in the sun.
I’m glorying in
the Lord’s fantastic fun
Wondering if
Paradise could be better.
Back home
On a winter’s day
Kneeling in a chapel
I’m sitting in the Son,
Whose healing rays
Stream brightly
From the humble Host
In the golden monstrance,
Forging the fractured me into a whole.
